Petrotrin is the subject of constant public discussion. “Experts” continuously malign the reputation of the company and its workers but whatever their intentions, it is important that the other side of the story be told.

If promises were revenue in the treasury our twin-island of Trinidad and Tobago would not be having any financial problems. If it is one thing we are full and overflowing with is promises and the area of crime is no exception.

The headline in the daily newspaper claimed that a $14,000,000 walkover is to be built for pedestrians using the water taxis in Port-of-Spain. That’s 14 million dollars!

The first paragraph of the article states that the walkover will be 40 metres long. That’s approximately 130 feet!

I supported England for this year’s FIFA World Cup but in Qatar 2022 I am hoping to support team T&T. The Trinidad and Tobago football team made it to the World Cup of Football on one occasion and it is possible to do it again.

Hearing the pronouncements from the newly constituted Police Service Commission made me feel I was listening to J.K. Rowling giving us a sneak peek into the upcoming sequel of Harry Potter - “Fantastic Beasts and where to find them”.

I read, in Monday’s Guardian, an article by Ralph Banwarie about work being done on the erosion at Manzanilla. I was elated to see at last that something was being done about the erosion and then the article cited that a boardwalk is to be constructed. I was horrified!

Mr Minister of Health for a non-medical doctor you are surviving but only barely.
Let us look at the positives.
The Mayaro and Sangre Grande facilities are competent.
You cannot continue blaming the previous government for everything.
That time has passed.

So Port-of-Spain flooded again and the current Minister of Works has a solution that is not water. And every Minister of Works before Mr Sinanan had a solution. And none of the solutions was ever implemented because it is a political solution.

From what I hear/know/think these are my concerns. This refinery needs to be shut down as it is probably the highest user of foreign exchange in T&T.

To keep the refinery running the average crude oil imported into Trinidad in May was 86,000 Bbls of oil per day.
