A two-year-old girl is now warded in a critical condition at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the Wendy Fitzwilliam Paediatric Hospital in Mt Hope, after she was punched repeatedly in the stomach and back by a close female friend of the family last Saturday.

Maureen Okpala: So sad to read such stories when so far from home. This all comes about when people have not prepared themselves for the responsibility of parenthood.

Ozra Nellyne Peters: What are they waiting on? Although the child is in ICU, she was abused hence the reason she’s there. Arrest the perpetrator, if God forbid and the child dies upgrade the charges. Arrest the abuser of this baby.

Kareem Marcelline: That is why yuh see I don’t want no step mother in my child life. If me and the mother can’t make it I’ll rather stay by myself and see about my child myself. To do my child that and get away man is murder yes.

Garnet Jaglal: Hmmm, I’m smelling a rat here, the symptoms that this child has and is being described here does not add up to that short period of time the child was left with the nurse (friend.) The child was left for just 3-4hours by dad (lame excuse) gangrene occurs after a prolonged period of time. This child was being ill treated (beaten) a while now. More in the mortar than the pestle.

MovieTowne’s Chin

rescue Haleema

Five-year-old Haleema Mohammed got a new lease on life yesterday after Stefan Chin, the son of business magnate Derek Chin, owner of MovieTowne, presented a cheque covering the outstanding funds needed for her surgery.

Neera Bengochea: Thank you Mr Chin and other corporate sponsors for demonstrating that there is still hope for humanity. God bless you all.

Leela Maharaj: It’s lovely to know that there are still good human beings. Thank you Sir on behalf of Trinidad & Tobago. Bless you. To this cute baby. God’s blessings and great success on your operation.

Mike Penco: Hats off to Mr Stefan Chin and by extension Derek, for the concern and love extended to that little girl and her family. Thanks are also extended to those who helped in what ever way possible. To members of the Life fund, take the money refused for her medical treatment and buy doubles, lotto, and clothes for work. Oh! have you all tried the latest coffee? Well you have the money, buy nah!

5 months jail

for bribe offer

The Chinese national who offered a $2,000 bribe to a police officer to to turn a blind eye to her relative’s illegal status in the country has been jailed for five months.

Clin Kiswah: $2000 dollars. Lol. She insulted the integrity of the TTPD. $2000. You needed to add four more Lady. Please

Arlene Portia Grant: She’s lucky this is Trinidad because Trump would have her shipped back to China.

Keston Greig: I don’t know what Trinbagoians want. When the police do the right thing, acknowledge something good was done. So much negative comments I seeing. Clappers to the police officer/s who didn’t take the bribe.

Angela Sankar: Thank u officer job well done I applauded u ur job and ur character is worth more than that u can lift ur head up high and walk without being called corrupt take a bow.
