I have read Prof Selwyn Cudjoe's Indian Time ah Come and it is much better than Capitalism and Slavery written by his guru, Dr Eric Williams. This amazing book, which reflects many years of archival research, is well-researched and each chapter has extensive endnotes and at the end there is a massive bibliography. There are no factual errors and every analysis is purely objective. His journalism style and normal political prejudices are completely absent and there is only academic writing.
I am now convinced that Cudjoe is the greatest intellectual and scholar the Caribbean has ever produced. He is more intelligent than George "Umbala" Joseph. Middle class Indo-Trinidadians should consider themselves fortunate that the knowledgeable Cudjoe has done this seminal research to enlighten them. I now appreciate the reason why his application to teach at UWI was rejected and he reflects the very "high" standards at US universities.
