The Office of the Integrity Commission has been posting "notices" in the daily newspapers over the past week or two listing names of people in public office who have failed to file Declarations of Income, Assets and Liabilities and Statements of Registrable Interests with the Integrity Commission from 2002 to 2007.
It is noted with interest that some of the names appearing are people who held high office on different state boards and have not filed for a number of years, and were looked up to as decent law-abiding citizens. It will also be interesting to see what action, if any, will be taken against these people for openly breaking the law, the penalty for which is severe, as a former Prime Minister can attest too.
