Why is it that drivers in this country fail to understand the purpose of the lights on their cars. Park lights are meant to be left on when the car is parked in a dark area. If the headlights are left on the battery will be dead in a few hours and the car will not start. This will not happen with the park lights. They use comparatively little electricity. If lights are required so that other drivers will see you, then the headlights should be on.
The car uses no electricity from the battery once the engine is running. All the electricity is supplied by the alternator. You will not "waste" the battery by turning on lights when the engine is running. After a car starts the battery can actually be removed and the engine will still run and all the lights will work. Also the hazard lights are not meant for a moving vehicle.
They are meant to be used when a vehicle is immobilised due to a breakdown or poses a hazard for some other reason. If it is raining the headlights should be used so that the car is easily seen by other drivers, not the hazard or park lights. Note the names. Park lights for parking, hazard lights for a hazard.
