As a society we seem to accept mediocrity carte blanche. We accept lawlessness also and we just don't seem to care about others who share this island with us. We are very inconsiderate. For the past three months or so I have observed a black pick-up vehicle transporting guard dogs in the San Fernando East area. Obviously the vehicle belongs to a security company but there are no identifying marks as to which company. On evenings it drops off the dogs at various venues. The problem is, and this is where the blatant inconsideration and lawless- ness are manifested, the dogs (sometimes as many as six or seven) are packed in the open tray of the pick-up and clearly they have to endure a very rocky, shaky ride.
The large animals are not muzzled and anyone that happens to walk nearby when the vehicle has stopped are in serious danger of being bitten or even having a piece of their face or arm chewed off. If that should happen I doubt if the victim would receive any compensation or justice knowing the type of society in which we live. Does this security company even care? Surely there is a law or at least some regulations as to how guard dogs are to be secured when being transported. Surely this company is contravening the law and is engaging in cruelty to animals and putting pedestrians at risk. But does it care? I think not!
I hope the police in San Fernando will keep a lookout for this vehicle and enforce the law. I hope the mayor will see this letter and take the appropriate action to deal with this inconsiderate security company. It's time we get serious about caring for others and setting standards.
