Quick response from WASA
Response to photo captioned “Water wasting from a WASA pump in Laventille” and a letter “Turn some attention to roads in Arima” in the January 16 Sunday Guardian: WASA is committed to an aggressive leak repair drive which will significantly improve the water supply to a number of residents in various areas throughout the country. As such the leaking main located in Laventille that is featured in Sunday’s PhotoOpinion will be repaired on Monday 17.
Additionally, WASA has decided to give the area from “Arima headed towards Valencia on the main road” urgent attention. This is a 300-metre span of 12” main in an area known as Orange Flats off the Guanapo distribution system into Arima consisting mainly of grey Jamaican PVC. We will commence emergency replacement this week and will give a two-month timeframe for completion.
We again take this opportunity to urge residents, customers and the general public to report all leaks to WASA via 800-LEAK or 662-WASA for repairs. As we enter the 2011 dry season this will no doubt assist us in enforcing our water conservation drive aimed at maintaining and ensuring a reliable water supply to all our customers.
