Anybody living and using the roads in Woodbrook and Newtown between Wrightson Road in the south and the Queen's Park Savannah in the north must use two main thoroughfares. However, simple changes in the direction of traffic would allow a far easier and efficient use of these roads. Traffic from Wrightson Road and Ariapita Avenue heading north to the Queen's Park Savannah and from the Savannah and Tragarete Road heading south to Ariapita Avenue and Wrightson Road will be positively affected if the following changes are implemented:
Make Colville Street from Ariapita Avenue to Tragarete Road one-way heading north. (This will now allow all vehicles a complete one-way exit up to Cipriani Boulevard-which will still remain two-way-and onto the Savannah.) This will allow traffic-free access from Wrightson Road all the way up to Tragarete Road and to the Savannah. Make Maraval Road one-way from Sweet Briar Road heading south all the way to Tragarete Road and make French Street also one-way heading south to Ariapita Avenue. This will allow traffic from the Savannah free access all the way to Wrightson Road.
Strictly enforce parking arrangements along these two main thoroughfares. Limit parking to one side or the other on alternate days since Maraval Road, French Street and Colville Street could only handle three driving lanes and not four. Implement these changes and monitor the results over a three-month period to see what I expect will be positive and time-saving. Do not put time restrictions (as currently applies to Maraval Road) since this often creates confusion as to the right of way.
I look forward to these changes.
