The surest way to destroy the new rating by S&P would be for the Government to settle all claims and demands simultaneously. Finance Minister Winston Dookeran is correct that the favourable rating is a consequence of Government's prudent policy in fiscal matters.
The Clico Policyholders Group continues to believe that it has a right to continued profit from a bankrupt investment and that the rest of the citizenry is obligated to stand the cost.
Now Peter Permell, deputy chairman of the policyholders organisation, appears to be seeking solidarity
with public servants and contractors in his overtures.
His persistent demands are now offensive and disgusting.
