Open letter to the Minister of Tourism and the Commissioner of Police: A recent Sunday I went to Las Cuevas and left at 3.30 pm and the traffic both in and out was horrible. It was just a Sunday, not even a holiday weekend. The problem is with the unauthorised parking and stopping in the Maracas area which narrows the road and brings traffic to a crawl.
Not a police in sight and no "no parking" signs. Our citizens need leisure and relaxation and our beaches allow for that but if we get stressed out going to or leaving the beaches then there is no gain, only pain. The solution requires no budget, no tendering process, and no money, only commitment to ensuring the smooth flow of vehicles and you are the ones with the responsibility. I must say I like the Jack Warner model of "just do it" and will be asking him for help in this matter if no solution is forthcoming.
