The leaders of our land seem not to understand the basics of industrial relations and this also applies to the trade union leaders; continuous strikes and protests would not help the negotiation. Both sides must sit and really come up with innovative solutions and I suggest that if money is the issue, why not let the Government introduce an alternate payment of bonds and shares; the Government and the unions could be partners in provision of housing or development of land area for lot allocation.
There are so many solutions to be found if everyone sitS and thinkS of our country long term losses when investors are discouraged to invest in our land and provide additional jobs. I am hearing now that one union leader wants to stop the highway extension to Point Fortin; does he know that the south-western peninsula would be enhanced by this new highway? I again appeal to all stakeholders to give our land the importance it deserves for the sake of our children.
