The educational system has to be altered to produce students who can best make a valuable contribution to the economic welfare of the nation. In fact, we should develop education as an industry of this nation. At the moment there are so many tiers in the educational system that a rapid rationalisation of the system has to be urgently undertaken. I believe in this regard Dr Gopeesingh is trying to reorganise the system on lines which can bring greater benefit to the society. These are two examples to which the attention must be forcibly directed. I shall deal with the others in another contribution and more particularly the housing situation.
