Harsh treatment to get ID Card
I am calling on the relevant authorities to please try to improve the situation at the Registration Office in Arima. For years residents of Arima and surrounding areas have had to undergo inconvenience and undue delay when applying for or renewing ID Cards. Does anyone realise the amount of man hours lost daily?
Some people, trying to get an early appointment, arrive early and stand outside the building in queues exposed to the elements. After all these years no one cares sufficiently to suggest a more suitable location? It is hoped that this new Government tries to remedy the situation. Generally, people who visit this office from time to time are subjected to harsh and unpleasant treatment from the staff. Some of the clerks need to be trained in interpersonal skills and customer relations.
I would like to know why the long waiting period of months and even years to get this card. Couldn’t a speedier method be used, especially in this age of technology? Is it because having and ID Card is compulsory that this is the way we are being treated? I hope to see improvement soon.
