Mayers must be expelled from COP

This is an urgent public appeal to the leadership of the Congress of the People (COP), as well as any inter-party council which may exist, to immediately distance itself from comments made by the deputy political leader of the COP, Robert Mayers. I am a founder of the COP and a supporter of Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar. And Mayers does not now, nor has he ever, represented my view of anything political or otherwise.
It pains me to say it, but it is Winston Dookeran who must be held responsible for Mayers being given a voice on the political landscape and unless Dookeran is willing to accept this level of opposi- tion to the Government from his own executive, he must immediately distance himself from the comments and even consider expelling Mayers from the party. I worked too hard and waited too long for the PNM to be thrown out of government for people such as Mayers to be allowed to destroy what I worked so hard to build.
Mayers must go!
