There is an old saying that "before opening mouth, engage brain," which could well be applied to so many senior people of all political parties when they get into government. The latest example is Minister of National Security John Sandy saying he does not know the strength of the police force. From that I can only assume he does not know the strength of the army or coast guard either.
Surely the minister should know the strength of the forces under his control. Does he not talk to his commanders? Surely such basic knowledge must always be on his mind to make important decisions.Like so many people in some sort of authority, he seems to think that anything he says must be accepted without question. But as servants of the people he and others must give realistic answers to questions put to them, especially the press.
