During her last days, Mother talked a lot about her children, all seven of us. She loved us all equally; none, she said, was more important than the other. She was also proud of us and our accomplishments; she felt the same way about her grands and great great grands, all the in-laws.
Particular mention must be made to her daughters-in-law Roslyn and Claire, who she said were like daughters to her. She prepared us for her passing on. I think we didn't want her to leave, we tried to keep her with us as long as we could. She asked God to release her and He did, she died so peacefully.
Mother, God saw you getting tired, He closed His arms around you and whispered "come to me." So keep your arms around her Lord and give her your special care. It is difficult to imagine life without her, the foundation that gave us all life. Her body may be gone, but she lives on in the deepest fibre of our being. Her life and blood and memory live on in us. We are her legacy and life's work and we are proud and grateful every day to belong to such humble blood. And in the words of Seadly: And now we walking so proud in the mister land Some even leading the way up in front the band Mama we walking so proud in the mister land. He got to shake he head... And that is all because of you. May you rest in peace.
