I was amused to see Independent Senator Helen Drayton criticise Attorney General Anand Ramlogan for being emotional when he described the horrible plight of kidnap victims. Ramlogan was instrumental in shocking our society's conscience when he penned a series of interviews which he had conducted with kidnap victims.
At the time, little or no mention was made of the personal distress of the families. Parents were torn between trusting the Anti-Kidnapping Squad or following the instructions from the kidnappers who demanded a hefty ransom and threatened to torture or brutalise their loved ones.
I wish to strongly recommend that AG Ramlogan forwards these articles to Senator Drayton, because upon reading them they left an immediate and indelible mark on my conscience. I too actually became very emotional when I thought about what kidnappers did to their victims. Hang them high I say.
