Govt support for Daniel genuine

Thursday, March 17, 2011

The hanging bill has been obstructed and cannot be presented for debate in Parliament for another six months. These few months will not make a difference, simply because any opposition lending support to a government bill as important as this will mean political suicide.

A lot has been said about the Government using the killing of innocent Daniel as a “political bullpistle” to bully the Opposition into giving the bill the support it needs. It is indeed wrong to think that the Government support given to the family in its time of need has a political agenda. We can see that our Prime Minister has genuine concern and her maternal instinct has made her reach out to her people.

What has been done cannot be undone, but I am positive that our Government will put things in place to better protect our children from the criminal elements that have been allowed to flourish in the past.
