Hot on the heels of International Women's Day and on reports in our media recently that a National Commission on the Status of Women is to be established in T&T, I was saddened to note that the 10 people appointed to date (including the chairman) to the National Commission for Higher Education are all men.
While I hold these men in high esteem, let us remember that T&T is also populated by women, many of whom continue to play significant roles in our society/world as "agents of change." Given the fact that there are more females than males enrolled in tertiary level programmes in T&T, it seems a bit shortsighted not to appoint any woman to the commission. Let's pull together to promote gender equity.
