Wow! That is the first expression that came to mind when I saw the article in your newspapers with reference to Machel Montano in Madison Square Garden. It was the first time in many days that I actually felt proud to be a Trinbagonian. It was a breath of fresh air from all the senseless killings and protesting that has been plaguing our country in recent weeks.. What Machel has done for himself is a great achievement and what this young man has done for our country brings me to tears. As to date I have not seen him reap the rewards which he so justly deserves. I mean he is still quite young, but what this young man has been able to achieve in his youthful years I mean it is just amazing.
The reason why I say amazing is simply because we are a small country in a wide universe with all types of music to date and for Machel, coming from a small twin-isle named Trinidad and Tobago in the Caribbean, who many in this world have never heard of, and despite this still be able to sell out, and I mean sell out Madison Square Garden, is just an immense achievement. Machel, I know you have a lot of nay sayers and you are not without controversy yourself, but I just want to take this opportunity to say to you as a citizen of this country, thank you Machel for everything that you have done, doing and yet to do for our beloved country. Thank you.
