Once again someone has been mauled to death by vicious dogs. I can't think of anything more horrible.
Imagine walking along minding your business and being attacked by dogs. How will that poor woman's family ever get that thought out of their minds? The fact is, they won't. What is it going to take before the powers that be get moving on some sort of legislation? The Dangerous Dogs Act should include all dogs. Why? Because all dogs are capable of being bad. Forget about the type of dog. People here breed dogs to make money-and the people who buy them make them bad.
Laws have to be passed to ensure that dogs are treated well. That dogs are housed properly. That dogs are fed properly. No family home should have more dogs than the area can comfortably accommodate. So, unless you live on a farm, that should limit most homeowners to two dogs. No more. Family lots are not to be used as breeding kennels. If someone wants to breed dogs as a business, it should not be done in a housing community. It is a health hazard, noisy and extremely dangerous. Unless we curb this wanton use of dogs as status symbols and guard dogs we will never get anywhere. I suggest we put some community police to work, seeking out those who house and breed dogs improperly.
I also implore the relevant authority to stop the importation of any new large-breed dogs until we have a handle on the present situation. I would like to see more dogs neutered and spayed. Clearly we need some immediate rules and regulations pertaining to dog ownership. Let's put this legislation at the top of things to get done.
