I have quietly watched the situation that transpired between the farmers and the HDC concerning agriculture lands in D'Abadie. The reason that I have such interest in the situation with the D'Abadie lands is because they are located not far from where I live. The main problem that I have with the Government building houses on these lands is that there is already a very huge water problem in the area. We do not get a proper water supply. The water would come to our taps about three times a week. Everyone has tanks.
I am wondering how many tanks I would have to purchase when these new houses are built, because I could bet my last dollar we will have less water in our taps then. Please, I would like the Minister of Housing and the HDC to reconsider their plan until serious consultations have been held with Public Utilities Minister Emmanuel George, who on a radio programme recently informed that everyone has to pay the same water rates regardless of how much water they receive. Is it fair to pay the same water bill for three days of water as opposed to someone who gets water seven days a week?
