I near­ly fell off my chair when I read the Gov­ern­ment will be tack­ling crime by boost­ing po­lice morale; all well and good. But is the Gov­ern­ment, the Min­is­ter of Na­tion­al Se­cu­ri­ty and the Com­mis­sion­er of Po­lice aware that Spe­cial Re­serve Po­lice (SRPs) get their salaries ir­reg­u­lar­ly? Do they know that it's month-end and April salaries have not been paid? So much for morale. These SRPs have fam­i­lies and com­mit­ments, but no one cares. They work their butts off but are treat­ed like some­thing re­sem­bling po­lice. The Po­lice Sec­ond Di­vi­sion is on­ly in­ter­est­ed in pol­i­tics; but SRPs' con­cerns are not head­line-grab­bing.
