Health Minister needs to do more

The Minister of Health is trying her best to fix the health system, but can’t more be done to assist the poor and vulnerable in society? The private hospitals operate like cartels. If you can’t pay, crapaud smoke your pipe. Recently I started having pains and swelling in my right knee. I had it X-rayed at the PoS hospital and after a review the doctor indicated that there seemed to be nothing wrong.

However, because there was pain and swelling he referred me to Mount Hope for an MRI to check for any cartilage loss. After waiting for almost two hours I was given an appointment for June 26 at 2.15 pm and advised that I should arrive at least 15 minutes early. This is ridiculous. Millions are being spent all around and the Port-of-Spain hospital doesn’t have an MRI machine.
