The Concise Oxford Dictionary defines an "allegation" as "an assertion, esp an unproved one." I find Keith Rowley's remark that he feels "embarrassed" and his description of the allegations against Jack Warner as an "international scandal" which has brought "shame, disgrace and inconvenience to the people of T&T" to be not only hasty but disingenuous (definition, same source: "having secret motives...insincere") in the extreme.
These blatantly political, knee-jerk responses to everything are destructive. Could Rowley not have reined in his naked ambition and awaited the outcome of the FIFA Ethics Committee's investigation before making these public pronouncements? We do not know as yet what exactly Warner has done, if anything. All will be revealed in due course. What we do know beyond a doubt, however, is that Rowley continues to show his willingness to sacrifice good judgment at the altar of "cheap shots." I for one find that behaviour embarrassing.
