Warner must vacate ministerial post now

The suspension from FIFA of Minister of Works and Transport Jack Warner is enough reason for Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar to now act as swiftly as she did with Mary King. The Prime Minister’s move to fire King after actions taken by the former minister were found to be inappropriate gained national praise as well as suspicion.

The suspicion came because some felt the Prime Minister was too quick off the mark in firing a COP minister. Be that as it may, the Prime Minister acted for the right reasons and moved to protect her Government. Now for weeks we have seen allegations against Warner, all of which he continuously denied, culminating in his suspension from his FIFA post.

This is enough for the Prime Minister to act. If Warner cares as much for the People’s Partnership as he claims, he must now vacate his ministerial post until he is cleared.
