It is a shame that Winston Dookeran has decided to resign as the COP's political leader. Dookeran brought a new approach to political leadership in this country. Yes, it is true he lacks the charisma and oratory skills of some other political leaders. However, where he fell short in these areas he more than made up in terms of decency, honesty and competence.
I hope his successor follows in his footsteps and I also hope that his successor is not Anil Roberts. Roberts represents the unfortunate combination of aggression and lack of political knowledge which will only serve to hand the east-west corridor back to the PNM, just when the COP was making very good inroads. Prakash Ramadhar will be a far superior choice for political leader.
