I totally support Port-of-Spain Mayor Louis Lee Sing's ban on parking in King George V Park for any function in St Clair. It is a great pity that his authority does not extend to the Queen's Park Savannah. For far too long our green spaces have been vandalised and neglected by the authorities. What was also impressive was the speed with which the PTSC was able to organise a shuttle service from the Nagar site to the Queen's Park Oval for the cricket match on Saturday between the West Indies and India. That was a good example of when thinking people seek to solve problems.
During the last 30 years, I have often had cause to contact the City Corporation and I can safely state that my group, Citizens For Conservation, has never had such a receptive audience as with the cur- rent mayor. Lee Sing understands the importance to a country of a capital city which reflects all aspects of its culture, citizenry and history. He is proactive and fearless, and we wish him every success in his plans to implement his vision for the future of Port-of-Spain.
