I to­tal­ly sup­port Port-of-Spain May­or Louis Lee Sing's ban on park­ing in King George V Park for any func­tion in St Clair. It is a great pity that his au­thor­i­ty does not ex­tend to the Queen's Park Sa­van­nah. For far too long our green spaces have been van­dalised and ne­glect­ed by the au­thor­i­ties. What was al­so im­pres­sive was the speed with which the PTSC was able to or­gan­ise a shut­tle ser­vice from the Na­gar site to the Queen's Park Oval for the crick­et match on Sat­ur­day be­tween the West In­dies and In­dia. That was a good ex­am­ple of when think­ing peo­ple seek to solve prob­lems.

Dur­ing the last 30 years, I have of­ten had cause to con­tact the City Cor­po­ra­tion and I can safe­ly state that my group, Cit­i­zens For Con­ser­va­tion, has nev­er had such a re­cep­tive au­di­ence as with the cur- rent may­or. Lee Sing un­der­stands the im­por­tance to a coun­try of a cap­i­tal city which re­flects all as­pects of its cul­ture, cit­i­zen­ry and his­to­ry. He is proac­tive and fear­less, and we wish him every suc­cess in his plans to im­ple­ment his vi­sion for the fu­ture of Port-of-Spain.
