Both the Minister of Health, Senator Therese Baptiste-Cornelis and the Minister of the People and Social Development, Glenn Ramadharsingh, have been talking of the possibility of the relocation of the Princess Elizabeth Home due to the annual flooding problems in the Woodbrook area. However, on Monday on the television news, Jack Warner, the super Minister of Works and Transport, during his tour of the area close to the Home, mentioned, when asked by a reporter, that there are no plans to relocate the facility.
Was it not Minister Warner who told Minister Prakash Ramadhar that there should be unity in what ministers say? Meanwhile Warner's answer to the flooding in Woodbrook is very simple: install two pumps, widen the drains and, here we go again, "build a retention pond"- and all in two weeks.
The question I would like to ask the minister is: where in the Woodbrook area will he be building a pond and on what lands? Will he be taking a square or two or maybe part of King George V Park, which is not in Woodbrook, or will it be behind MovieTowne, just before the water enters into the sea and after the flooded area or, to be ridiculous, in Mucurapo Cemetery?
