The Trinbago Unified Calypsonians' Organisation (Tuco) extends condolences to the family, friends and business associates of Wayne Berkeley who passed away on June 9. Our sentiments also embrace the entire National Carnival Bands Association and all masqueraders. The designs of Berkeley could be easily identified as a point of reference in the modern Carnival experience.
For us as calypsonians it has certainly been a joy to provide the music to move the masqueraders along the road and across the Carnival stage inside the magic of costumes designed by Berkeley. So let us not weep and mourn the passing of Berkeley. Instead, let us celebrate his life and creative offerings with a national museum of Carnival arts and culture.
Let the children of our young republic be afforded the opportunity to gaze in wonder at a Berkeley collection or the works of George Bailey against the backdrop of piped music from the Grandmaster Lord Kitchener.
Once again on behalf of the executive, members and staff of Tuco we send condolences to the family and friends of the late Wayne Berkeley in this time of bereavement.
