Works and Transport Minister Jack Warner should investigate the many jobs done by his ministry and the sub-standard work his ministry is being billed millions of dollars for. If one were to look at the work currently being undertaken on the highway from Chaguanas, north-bound, one will find that the newly paved area, four days old and opened to the public, is already potholed. What a shame, Mr Minister.
Who has oversight for this contract? Have you taken a look at the roads paved or repaired recently? If you did, you will see it is horrendous and leaves much to be desired. The main north-south thoroughfare is potholed with poor patch jobs. These actually increase the chance of accidents as drivers swerve to avoid these rough patch-up jobs. This highway might be the only one in the world where we have speed bumps. If you think I am kidding, check Claxton Bay after the flyover on the north-bound side and just before Ste Madeleine on the south-bound lanes, just to name two areas.
Mr Minister, you mean well and I hold you in high esteem but we the people are getting gyped by the many contractors who want to enrich themselves while providing poor quality work. The many tunnels that were drilled across the highway have stared to sink and the highway itself is very rough. The entire highway needs to be repaved but a better job must be done. I hope you look into these and other concerns with dispatch.
