I think that the labour leaders' vow to "shut down T&T" is irresponsible. There should be no general strike.
There is an international recession taking place and the labour leaders are fortunate to have received the five per cent wage offer when in other countries workers are loosing their jobs.
Former governments of this country have given too much in the past and this has led to our currency being devalued from $2.421 to $6.43, making the cost of living very high. A small country like Barbados has more responsible labour leaders and it has not had to devalue its currency. This is why we are referred to by other countries as having plenty dollars but no sense.
