I am so dis­ap­point­ed and ap­palled at the lev­el to which the COP elec­tion cam­paign has sunk.Giv­en the ex­ten­sive mud­sling­ing, in-fight­ing and mau­vais langue, I am left to won­der if the COP is no dif­fer­ent to the UNC when it comes to ran­cour and wash­ing dirty linen in in­ter­nal elec­tions. Where­as I thought the prin­ci­ple was about com­ment­ing on per­for­mance, out­lin­ing vi­sion and com­mit­ment, I am still wait­ing for Nali­ni Di­al to demon­strate the rel­e­vance of her Nic­ki Mi­naj re­marks.

I am hop­ing that some­one can tell me that Anil Robert's nev­er end­ing di­ar­rhoea about Car­olyn Seep­er­sad-Bachan, Joseph Toney and a host of oth­er as­sort­ed ver­bal bile qual­i­fies him for lead­er­ship any­more than Ver­non de Li­ma's friv­o­lous fan­ta­sy about be­ing able to serve be­cause he has noth­ing else to do. I have been ob­serv­ing close­ly that what the COP calls a de­bate isn't much dif­fer­ent from a fist fight and the one who wins is the last man stand­ing.

So I will be very hap­py when to­mor­row comes and the be­hav­iour of the COP is put to the test.Where­as I am ex­pect­ing the usu­al elec­tion spec­ta­cle about cam­paign­ing and frus­trat­ing the will of the peo­ple, I am cau­tion­ing all in­volved that for all in­tents and pur­pos­es, this is not as­sum­ing the iden­ti­ty of a de­mo­c­ra­t­ic ex­er­cise but more like crabs in a bar­rel.They now stand shoul­der to shoul­der with the PNM and the UNC as a par­ty with no re­al com­mit­ment to be­hav­iour.
