As a health and safe­ty ad­vis­er, I can­not take mak­ing risk as­sess­ments for grant­ed. The trag­ic events of Sun­day in which peo­ple drowned shows that not every­one takes the time to do so how­ev­er. I am not point­ing any fin­gers or al­lo­cat­ing blame for the trag­ic loss of life but just want to en­cour­age my fel­low Trinida­di­ans to be a bit more care­ful and think through what they are do­ing be­fore do­ing it. I am not sug­gest­ing tak­ing a com­put­er to every beach fete to do a risk as­sess­ment. Just take a sec­ond to think what could hap­pen, take the nec­es­sary mea­sures to mit­i­gate this and we could have so many more peo­ple re­turn­ing alive from the fun ac­tiv­i­ties in which we Tri­nis like to par­take.
