The trade union leaders are seeking to mash up the country, for this is what will happen if they carry through with their threats. However, I would like the leaders to inform the national community who will gain and what are the benefits to be derived from their actions. When they bring the economy to a standstill, who will suffer most but the poor and defenceless in society. Will this action harm Kamla Persad-Bissessar and the Government, or Rowley and the Opposition, or Doma and other big businesses? Certainly not. Those who will feel it most are those in URP, Cepep, factory workers, store clerks, pensioners and the poorer class.
I don't believe the unions are about workers' business anymore. They are bent on bringing down the Government. It's strictly political now.Yes, worker rights need to be addressed, but do they have to destroy the country to achieve their aims?We all have to live here after all. Let good sense prevail. It's time for the rest of the national community to let these union leaders know where to get off.
