The trade union lead­ers are seek­ing to mash up the coun­try, for this is what will hap­pen if they car­ry through with their threats. How­ev­er, I would like the lead­ers to in­form the na­tion­al com­mu­ni­ty who will gain and what are the ben­e­fits to be de­rived from their ac­tions.When they bring the econ­o­my to a stand­still, who will suf­fer most but the poor and de­fence­less in so­ci­ety. Will this ac­tion harm Kam­la Per­sad-Bisses­sar and the Gov­ern­ment, or Row­ley and the Op­po­si­tion, or Do­ma and oth­er big busi­ness­es? Cer­tain­ly not. Those who will feel it most are those in URP, Cepep, fac­to­ry work­ers, store clerks, pen­sion­ers and the poor­er class.

I don't be­lieve the unions are about work­ers' busi­ness any­more. They are bent on bring­ing down the Gov­ern­ment. It's strict­ly po­lit­i­cal now.Yes, work­er rights need to be ad­dressed, but do they have to de­stroy the coun­try to achieve their aims?We all have to live here af­ter all. Let good sense pre­vail. It's time for the rest of the na­tion­al com­mu­ni­ty to let these union lead­ers know where to get off.
