The initiative by the Trinbago Unified Calypsonians Organisation (Tuco) to have the Mighty Sparrow granted The Order of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago is indeed a plausible and noble one. It is incomprehensible that an individual of the Mighty Sparrow's stature has not yet been regaled with the nation's highest honour. In fact, it is a frighteningly implausible vision that sits in positions of power and denies this illustrious bard what he thoroughly deserves.
Sparrow, the Shakespeare of our age, has defined our "Trinbagonianness" more adequately than any other person and now in the winter of his life he must be granted this crowning glory while he is still in our midst.
Let us be thankful and give the "Birdie" what is rightfully his-The Order of the Republic of T&T.
