I can prove with­out con­tra­dic­tion that the protest in Point Fortin was po­lit­i­cal­ly mo­ti­vat­ed. For don­key years, un­der PNM rule, the road lead­ing to the bor­ough was one of the worst in the coun­try, yet we nev­er heard one word of protest. I know the road well since I vis­it Ce­dros sev­er­al times a year. The con­di­tion of the road to­day is much bet­ter than it was in ear­li­er days yet we have all this fiery protest. Clear­ly, the protest is based on who is in pow­er rather than the con­di­tion of the road.

There could be an­oth­er rea­son, though. This Gov­ern­ment is tru­ly car­ing and is will­ing to help when­ev­er it can. Peo­ple now know that the Gov­ern­ment will try to help if pos­si­ble. They al­so knew that with the PNM, they could protest till they are blue in the face but a PNM Gov­ern­ment wouldn't take them on. So why both­er? And why doesn't Paula Gopee-Scoon shut up? She was in the Gov­ern­ment for 10 years and did noth­ing to fix the roads. Is she for re­al try­ing to blame the PP Gov­ern­ment?
