Surely one of the best, if not the best, benefits that all of us derive out of the present situation is the peace and quiet that we are being forced to endure. The Bible tells us that after six days work the Lord rested and I am positive that all other religions are guided in the same direction. And Minister Jack Warner will tell you that he accomplishes the most between the hours of 5 and 8 am due to the lack of distractions. Peace and quiet, tranquillity, harmony, cooperation all cost nothing but a little discipline and yet we elders who do know better allow the younger generation to convince us that noise, bacchanal and fete are the only ingredients for a healthy lifestyle.
"The islands," once the epitome of rest, relaxation and recuperation, are fast becoming noise-infested jungles. We all need at least two days of positive revival if we put in five days of hard work and going "down the islands" was the perfect idea of getting away and relaxing. If we are seriously looking at what foreigners are going to flock here for, we must provide places were they can truly be at rest and get over all the activities that we provide. Please CDA, please EMA, please citizens of T&T, let us at least try to preserve this haven of peace which will lay the foundation for a great nation.
