We must never underestimate the role of the teacher. They are the ones who shape the future of the world and they also must appreciate this fact. And if the future of our country lies in the book bags of the school children, then obviously it also lies in the hands of the school teacher. Teachers must be given their dues in society, notwithstanding that there may be delinquent ones, as in every other sphere. It cannot be left to parents to mold the child as many are almost the same age as the child, and orange trees don't produce mango, so the role of the teacher is more important than even they themselves think.
Teachers and police officers should be the ideal guides for children in developing and attaining knowledge and discipline and may be the key in tackling illiteracy, whereby the child may then become a teacher within his or her household and community. I would like the authorities to make it mandatory that all schools from primary level up include in their syllabus teaching of etiquette, as is done in the hospitality industry, the result of which should produce a better person. It has nothing to do with gender or race but rather proper and relevant teachings.
