I applaud the Government for finally closing the loopholes in the legislation to prevent the killing, harpooning and sale of turtles, turtle meat and turtle eggs. Trinidad is incredibly fortunate to host nesting populations of five of the seven species of marine turtles in the world and also one of the largest nesting populations of the critically endangered leather-back turtles. Finally, a government that takes environmental issues into account. Keep up this positive movement and the protection of our wildlife. The next step is enforcing these laws-don't let us down.
