I, like many oth­er re­tired po­lice of­fi­cers, am re­ceiv­ing far less than $3,000 a month. In Sep­tem­ber last year, the Prime Min­is­ter in­di­cat­ed that all re­tired gov­ern­ment of­fi­cers would be brought on par with oth­ers. Af­ter 12 months this has not hap­pened. Oth­er ser­vices have re­ceived theirs. Giv­en the unit I served in on many oc­ca­sions, when I left home for work I nev­er thought I would have re­turned to my fam­i­ly due to the dan­ger­ous na­ture of the du­ties I had to per­form.

I am con­vinced that I con­tributed more than what was re­quired of me. I have nu­mer­ous awards to sup­port what I am say­ing. We are mem­bers of an in­ef­fec­tive T&T Re­tirees As­so­ci­a­tion. I am ask­ing the di­rect in­ter­ven­tion of the Prime Min­is­ter and the Min­is­ter of Fi­nance.
