As an ardent supporter of T&T sports, I was pleased to see recognition being given to some of the country's outstanding sportsmen and sportswomen at the recent Hall of Fame induction ceremony. The awards to Brian Lara, Dwight Yorke and Russell Latapy were always on the cards but it was great to see names like Taffy Critchlow, Richard Nieves, Zeno Constance, Jeanette Giorgetti-Pantin and Victor Gamaldo, all of whom thrilled thousands of sports lovers over the years.
These are outstanding citizens whose lives and contributions would no doubt have been forgotten had it not been for this event, so First Citizens must be congratulated on this initiative. However, I hope some mechanism can be found to honour and remember the contributions of all our national sportsmen and women, many of whom brought tremendous joy to our nation but who would probably have not done enough to be in a Hall of Fame. Over to you First Citizens.
