I think it's very un­for­tu­nate that Port-of-Spain May­or Louis Lee Sing would ob­ject to the pro­pos­al that would grant pen­sion­ers free util­i­ties like light and wa­ter. He has shown that he has ab­solute­ly no re­spect for the con­tri­bu­tions that these pen­sion­ers have made to our coun­try. These are the peo­ple who toiled in their younger days for measly wages to pro­vide a bet­ter liv­ing for their fam­i­lies and who, like him­self, be­came pil­lars in our so­ci­ety.

If Almighty God in his love and mer­cy de­cid­ed to ex­tend their lives, why would Lee Sing want to ob­ject to this of­fer? Maybe he and his fam­i­ly have had an eas­i­er life that most, but that's no rea­son to ob­ject to pen­sion­ers get­ting help from the State. Af­ter all, they paid their dues. So let them en­joy the bless­ings of the land. They de­serve it. Have a heart, Mr May­or.
