I think it's very unfortunate that Port-of-Spain Mayor Louis Lee Sing would object to the proposal that would grant pensioners free utilities like light and water. He has shown that he has absolutely no respect for the contributions that these pensioners have made to our country. These are the people who toiled in their younger days for measly wages to provide a better living for their families and who, like himself, became pillars in our society.
If Almighty God in his love and mercy decided to extend their lives, why would Lee Sing want to object to this offer? Maybe he and his family have had an easier life that most, but that's no reason to object to pensioners getting help from the State. After all, they paid their dues. So let them enjoy the blessings of the land. They deserve it. Have a heart, Mr Mayor.
