Nepotism, discrimination, reduction in training output and in training quality are among a litany of urgent concerns listed by angry and disgruntled police officers at the Police Training Academy in St James. If these are the cries of disgruntled officers since January, why is this only now being raised? Sgt Anand Ramesar, president of the Police Service Social and Welfare Association, continues to treat with matters of a very fragile nature by way of the media as opposed to getting to the bottom of issues by contacting and meeting with his head to derive possible solutions and avoid further discontentment among police officers.

What is quite clear is that he is the one who continues to apply a cosmetic bandage and keeps things at bay as opposed to dealing with them immediately. If there are loopholes in the recruitment process, then he is well in his right to approach the Commissioner of Police but, as with all things, he is too busy trying his utmost to create unnecessary public ridicule. Ramesar, if there are flaws, then use your initiative to meet, discuss and trash them out. It makes no sense to complain and yet do nothing. Be the change you want to see.
