I agree with Min­is­ter Prakash Ra­mad­har that the no-con­fi­dence mo­tion will hurt the na­tion. I be­lieve that the Op­po­si­tion and oth­ers have been work­ing as­sidu- ous­ly to dis­par­age the PM in the eyes of the pub­lic. Un­for­tu­nate­ly, the world's eyes are al­so on us as she is the coun­try's first fe­male Prime Min­is­ter. From talk of the SoE, the plot against her life, her state vis­it to In­dia, the award­ing of "silk" and most re­cent­ly her choice of foot-wear, the de­trac­tors have been hav­ing a field day with their sala­cious com­ments about Prime Min­is­ter Kam­la Per­sad-Bisses­sar. Of course this would not go un­no­ticed in the in­ter­na­tion­al are­na.

In fact, Per­sad-Bisses­sar has been con­sis­tent­ly mak­ing ef­forts to cre­ate strong re­la­tions with var­i­ous coun­tries with a view to in­creas­ing trade and boost­ing our econ­o­my. These same po­ten­tial trade part­ners are al­so part of the in­ter­na­tion­al au­di­ence to the no-con­fi­dence mo­tion. In my hum­ble opin­ion, re­gard­less of what is said in the me­dia and else­where, the mo­tion will fail and that is sim­ply be­cause, de­spite all the neg­a­tiv­i­ty, the PM is work­ing hard to serve this coun­try well. For that alone she de­serves more re­spect from the Op­po­si­tion.
