I agree with Minister Prakash Ramadhar that the no-confidence motion will hurt the nation. I believe that the Opposition and others have been working assidu- ously to disparage the PM in the eyes of the public. Unfortunately, the world's eyes are also on us as she is the country's first female Prime Minister. From talk of the SoE, the plot against her life, her state visit to India, the awarding of "silk" and most recently her choice of foot-wear, the detractors have been having a field day with their salacious comments about Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar. Of course this would not go unnoticed in the international arena.
In fact, Persad-Bissessar has been consistently making efforts to create strong relations with various countries with a view to increasing trade and boosting our economy. These same potential trade partners are also part of the international audience to the no-confidence motion. In my humble opinion, regardless of what is said in the media and elsewhere, the motion will fail and that is simply because, despite all the negativity, the PM is working hard to serve this country well. For that alone she deserves more respect from the Opposition.
