Dogs become dangerous only when they are protecting their owners or are trained by criminals (gangs, bandits) to attack anyone. My brother has six Doberman dogs that are loving pets and guard dogs for my parents who are pensioners ages 76 and 66 years old. Their neighbours have been victims of robbery on more than one occasion. Recently, the police arrested a robber in connection to a burglary next door to my parents' home. The burglar got six months prison time. The dogs are a deterrent since we do not have gun laws for law-abiding citizens to protect ourselves from criminals.Just imagine a resident of Maraval who resides alone has been a victim of theft by his own neighbour. The so-called neighbour sends her gardener/handyman to steal her neighbour's avocados every year.
Recently, a police report was made about this same neighbour who trespassed again, this time sending her gardener to cut down the man's avocado tree and another neighbour's mango tree. What do you think about? Law enforcement officers should be given approval by Government to first take into consideration who are dog owners. Many dogs will be abandoned and left by the roadside by owners who cannot afford to insure their pets. If crime was under control then we could sleep a little better and feel a bit safer in our homes. Since that is not the case we need our dogs to protect us from criminals. Dog owners should however secure there property and display a "dangerous dog" or "beware of the dog" sign on their gate.
