The Ministry of Arts and Multiculturalism has published a calendar of events commencing April and running to December re the celebration of T&T's 50th anniversary of independence. With the exception of the East Indian and Chinese communities, none of the other people representative of our multicultural society have been identified as worthy of mention. Can Minister Winston Peters or Makandal Daaga, the Caricom Ambassador for Culture, offer an explanation for the exclusion of other identifiable groupings that constitute our multicultural society? Better yet, can the minister offer an explanation for the term "multiculturalism" relative to his job function? Failing to do so would sug- gest that multiculturalism is a divisive force.
