The de­ci­sion of the PM to go par­tial­ly with the CCJ may have to be re­viewed, in light of wide­spread in­formed pub­lic sen­ti­ment. Per­haps it was al­ways her in­ten­tion for a com­plete break and that the par­tial ap­proach was meant to ig­nite pro CCJ sup­port in all par­ties, par­tic­u­lar­ly the PNM Op­po­si­tion, now open­ly com­mit­ted.

In any event, it is now clear that with pub­lic sup­port from all, ex­cept per­haps the men­ac­ing COP, the re­vised po­si­tion will be a com­plete break with the Privy Coun­cil and full adop­tion of the CCJ. The PM may yet take the par­tial pro­pos­al to Par­lia­ment for a com­pre­hen­sive de­bate in the pub­lic in­ter­est.
