Like many tax-paying citizens across the country, residents of Glencoe are crying out against neglect. We are calling on the various authorities to provide the area with basic infrastructure as we suffer from inadequate street lighting along the La Horquette Valley Road (the site of a recent murder), broken pavements which stop abruptly and the main concern of residents who live on a hill or incline-no water.
The area is served by a Monday, Wednesday and Friday night water schedule. Imagine in this day and age water is rationed in a country like T&T. This schedule is dependent upon responsible and diligent operators who send water our way when and for the duration they should so that water tanks are filled for the following two days of "drought."
This often does not happen. We get the wrong kind of "pressure" during holidays like Carnival and Christmas. La Horquette Valley Road is a flowing stream because of the number of leaks which occur on a weekly basis along the road. And though WASA is overstaffed by 2,800 people, the leaks continue.
Recently, residents spent three days without water because a land developer had a leaking tank and was given an opportunity by WASA to fix the problem. Our MP is quite a busy man. So we have little expectation that he will lend a hand. Our only hope is that the authorities at the Ministries of Public Utilities and Works take up our plight.
