I re­sist­ed com­ment­ing be­fore on West In­dies crick­et but now the pain is un­bear­able. We need dras­tic ac­tion. Since the Aus­tralian tour, we have been ma­m­aguyed, pa­tro­n­ised and fi­nal­ly in­sult­ed by the British me­dia. We have been turn­ing the cor­ner for years.

In any oth­er en­ter­prise, chair­man of the board Ju­lian Hunte, CEO Ernest Hi­laire, coach Ot­tis Gib­son and cap­tain Dar­ren Sam­my all would have been re­lieved of their du­ties. It is time for these four Cs to go. The cap­tain is tac­ti­cal­ly naive and does not mer­it a place on the team.

The coach is delu­sion­al, see­ing him­self a la Lloyd with a four-pronged pace at­tack. The CEO is big­ger than the West In­dies team, a star ad­min­is­tra­tor with thin skin. The chair­man is a failed politi­cian, a law in­to him­self, dis­re­spect­ful to an elect­ed Prime Min­is­ter.

It is time for change: re­vamp the sys­tem by which the board is elect­ed. Let the play­ers' as­so­ci­a­tion run the game, then maybe we can get our best team on the field and not have puerile ad­min­is­tra­tors and coach­es caus­ing us such em­bar­rass­ment.
