I resisted commenting before on West Indies cricket but now the pain is unbearable. We need drastic action. Since the Australian tour, we have been mamaguyed, patronised and finally insulted by the British media. We have been turning the corner for years.
In any other enterprise, chairman of the board Julian Hunte, CEO Ernest Hilaire, coach Ottis Gibson and captain Darren Sammy all would have been relieved of their duties. It is time for these four Cs to go. The captain is tactically naive and does not merit a place on the team.
The coach is delusional, seeing himself a la Lloyd with a four-pronged pace attack. The CEO is bigger than the West Indies team, a star administrator with thin skin. The chairman is a failed politician, a law into himself, disrespectful to an elected Prime Minister.
It is time for change: revamp the system by which the board is elected. Let the players' association run the game, then maybe we can get our best team on the field and not have puerile administrators and coaches causing us such embarrassment.
